DANCE PACIFICA 2008 – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED on June 13 & 14 !

Most volunteers are required for 2 hour periods throughout the day
and evening: for example taking tickets and selling programs,
ushering, or marshalling. Other work involves decorating Friday
evening or removing decorations afterwards. Every little bit of time
you can spare helps make the event go smoothly.

To volunteer please send an E-mail to Diana, vbdsnews(a)shaw.ca,
subject line: Dance Pacifica Volunteer, and indicate your
availability (when and for how long).

BALLROOM IN THE SCHOOLS – BALLROOM SHOES NEEDED!
We now have the Spring term of our Ballroom in the Schools program
underway at four schools in the Victoria area, and are planning for
another appearance and competition by school kids at Dance Pacifica
on June 14. Last year, many, many members donated shoes and clothes
that they were no longer using so that we could outfit High School
kids properly for the competition, allowing them to dance at Dance
Pacifica, most for the first time. All involved are extremely
grateful for the great response we had. We are again putting out
an appeal for shoes! If you have ballroom dance shoes that you
could contribute, would you please either bring them along to
Wednesday Practices, or let Diana know via info(a)vbds.org, and we
will make some kind of arrangements to collect them. We need help
for both the gentlemen & ladies shoes in the School program, but
gentlemen’s shoe are our biggest single gap right now. (After use
in preparing for the competition, VBDS recollects the shoes and/or
donates them to the dance program at each school for use in future
years.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
MYSTERY SHOES puzzle has been solved. They are for the high school
program.

DANCE DEMOS by professionals Mirko Gozzoli and Alessia Betti are
inspiring and useful. They can be found on youtube by doing a
search "mirko basic". Alternatively, you can cut and paste:

http://ca.youtube.com/results?search_query=mirko+basic&search_type=&aq=f

This will give you demos for all 5 of the Standard ballroom dances.
